ConServe Supports American Cancer Society, Pluta Cancer Center Foundation and Gilda’s Club of Rochester

Employee Donations Help The Fight to Celebrate and Save Lives

The October Jeans For Charity program recipients of Continental Service Group, Inc., dba ConServe, share a common thread:  They all strive to support, empower and educate those battling cancer, either directly or through its impact on their lives. The organizations that benefited from this month’s charity donations are the Pluta Cancer Center Foundation, Gilda’s Club of Rochester and the American Cancer Society. These groups share a common interest in their efforts to save lives, assist patients, create comforting care environments and celebrate life as they create a world without cancer.

“Our Jeans for Charity program provides our employees with the opportunity to enjoy dressing down while making a difference in our community,” said George Huyler, Vice President of Human Resources of ConServe. “Good corporate citizenship is at the core of our company’s mission statement; ConServe is dedicated to satisfying the needs of clients while improving the human condition, fostering the development of successful, long-term relationships with clients, employees, vendors and the community as a whole.“

Kathleen Kiernan, Director of Development at the Pluta Cancer Center Foundation said, “our mission is to continue to support the Pluta Cancer Center, its patients and its team by providing the funds necessary to relieve the financial burdens that many cancer patients and their families face.  We continue to expand and enhance our complementary integrative oncology services, as well as invest in the professional development of our caregivers who are at the front lines of patient care.”

Melinda Merante, CEO Gilda’s Club Rochester said, “we are so honored and grateful to ConServe’s employees and their Jeans for Charity program. The money raised will help us expand our programming, we will be able to add more educational, cooking, art, and support classes and introduce more people to Gilda’s through our Gilda’s On the Road outreach program. Thanks to ConServe for helping us make many more lives brighter and filled with hope.”

About ConServe’s Jeans For Charity Program
ConServe’s Jeans For Charity initiative began in 2008 when their employees had an idea to launch a program that would provide a way of giving back to their communities.  ConServe employees can participate in monthly charitable donations, benefitting a wide-range of not-for-profits (501-C-3) organizations, in exchange for having the option of dressing down and wearing jeans to work for the entire month. The funds raised by the employees’ generosity are supplemented by the organization’s Matching Gift Program - symbolizing ConServe’s commitment to good corporate citizenship. This ongoing initiative is just one of the ways in which ConServe supports varied and diverse community agencies. To date the program has donated over $982,307 to local community organizations.
